Swipe Right

We live in a world where countless people are searching for the right relationship. Dating apps promise that somewhere out there is the perfect match. People spend hours building profiles, choosing the right pictures, writing the perfect bio, and swiping left or right, hoping to find someone who will truly understand them, accept them, and love them.

People are desperately looking for the right person. They want someone who will be honest, faithful, patient, and committed. They want someone who will not disappear when life becomes difficult or walk away when their imperfections begin to show.

Human relationships can be wonderful, but every person is imperfect. Even the people who love us most will sometimes disappoint us, misunderstand us, or fail to meet our expectations.

But what if I could introduce you to the right One?

What if I could introduce you to someone who already knows everything about you, sees every flaw you have tried to hide, and still reaches for you? Someone who loved you before you ever thought about loving Him?

If Jesus had a profile, perhaps it might look something like this.

Name: Jesus

Age: 33, but older than time.

Location: Everywhere, and always near the brokenhearted.

Occupation: Carpenter and Restorer of broken souls.

The Bio

I’m a small-town carpenter who loves long walks on water, deep conversations over a meal, and breaking barriers to reach your heart. I do not judge by outward appearances. I care about what is happening on the inside.

If you are tired, worn out, or burnt out, come to Me. We will walk together, and I will show you what it means to find real rest.

The key to My heart is surrender.

You do not have to fix yourself before we meet. You do not have to clean up every mistake, heal every scar, or put all the broken pieces back together. Just come as you are.

I have already seen your worst days. I know every failure, every doubt, and every moment you wish you could erase, and I am still reaching for you.

I’m convinced that your past does not place you beyond the reach of My love. Neither your failures, your doubts, nor your deepest scars can stop Me from calling you.

I did not come into the world to condemn you. I came to rescue you.

Together we could rebuild the broken areas of your life, feed the hungry, comfort the hurting, and move mountains you once thought were permanent.

I will carry the heavy side of the yoke so you do not have to walk alone. When the road becomes difficult, I will stay beside you. When you are weak, I will give you strength. When you lose your way, I will lead you home.

What I’m Looking For

I am not looking for a perfect profile, a flawless résumé, or a checklist of good deeds.

I am looking for your availability, your trust, and a willing heart. I am looking for surrender, not perfection. I want a daily, lifelong commitment where we talk about everything, celebrate every victory, and walk together through even the darkest valleys.

You do not have to impress Me. You only have to follow Me.

Obviously, Jesus never signed up for a dating app. But if our culture understands anything, it understands searching for someone who will truly love and accept us. The profile is fictional, the invitation is not.

The beautiful thing about Jesus is that He does exactly the opposite of what our culture often does. We live in a culture consumed with swiping left on people’s flaws and filtering out their imperfections. People carefully shape their profiles to show only their best qualities while hiding the areas they fear will cause someone to reject them.

He sees the hidden pain, the secret failures, the fears, the disappointments, and the shame we try so hard to conceal. Yet instead of walking away, He reaches toward us. He doesn’t create a fake profile or hide His intentions. He is exactly who He says He is. He fully sees us, fully knows us, and fully loves us at the same time.

Every one of us has experienced relationships that have disappointed us. We’ve been disappointed by broken promises, abandoned by people we trusted, or discovered that someone wasn’t who they claimed to be. Jesus is different. He is faithful. He never leaves, never deceives, and never stops loving those who come to Him.

He is the only One who can fully see you, fully know you, and fully love you at the same time. And that is exactly what He wants. He wants to know you, and He wants you to know Him.

He truly is the ultimate match.

There is another beautiful thought hidden in Scripture. At the final judgment, Jesus will gather His people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, placing His sheep at His right hand. Long before dating apps made “swiping right” a symbol of choosing someone, Jesus had already spoken of placing His people at His right hand. To belong to Him is to be welcomed to His right side forever.

He isn’t looking for a perfect performance. He is looking for a surrendered heart. He has already made the first move. The question isn’t whether He is reaching for you. The question is how you will respond.

Will you swipe right?

Matthew 11:28 (KJV) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
