My Daddy decided at one point that he wanted to plant wisteria. He thought they were pretty and would be a good addition to his yard. He planted it right beside a fence line. He began to take care of it so that it would grow. And grow it did. It took over the fence line quickly. He ended up spending a lot of time working on it to get it removed. And after that he hated wisteria.
You see we often plant things in our lives that we don’t consider the outcome. They don’t seem bad at first. A habit, a complaint, a negative comment. They may seem harmless, but what are they going to grow into? They may even seem to add to us. But these things don’t always add value. It can wrap up our lives and many times seem to take over.
Sometimes we spend years trying to uproot something we once spent time cultivating.
So let’s pay close attention to what we plant in our lives. Before you nurture something, ask yourself, What will this look like when it is fully grown?
Galatians 6:7-8 KJV Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
