My Uncle Fred used to tell this story about when he went fishing. He said that he caught a fish on his line and when he got it on the bank, it began to walk. So he ran to his truck to get a gun. When he got back the fish had climbed a tree. He said before he could fire a shot, the fish flew off. Uncle Fred could “spin a yarn,” as they say. He was good a telling tall tales.
I want to discuss something that is not a tall tale. Not in the slightest. The love that Jesus has for you and me. Yes, you. The one that thinks you’re unlovable, the one that thinks that you’re not worth it. You don’t really believe you’re hear by mistake do you? Don’t you know that Jesus wanted you here? Doesn’t matter where you are now nor does it matter how far away from God you are. Psalm 145:18 ISV The LORD remains near to all who call out to him, to everyone who calls out to him sincerely.
Do you know that if Jesus would have looked through all eternity and saw that you were the only person that would ever turn to Him, the only one that would serve Him. He still would have went to the cross for just you. You’ve heard the phrase, “If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably not true.” Well not in this case. Luke 15:4-7 KJV 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
You may think that you’ve never even given Jesus a thought. Romans 5:8 KJV But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Even now His love draws you towards Him. Jeremiah 31:3 KJV The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
Still don’t understand? That’s okay you don’t have to fully understand it. You just have to believe it.
Ephesians 3:19 NLT
19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
