I’ve got a question for you. Let’s say that you are holding a cup of coffee. Suddenly someone bumps into you and causes the coffee to spill out. Why did coffee spill out of the cup? If you say because they bumped into you, you are incorrect. Coffee spilled out of the cup because that is what was in the cup. Yes they bumped into you and may have caused something to come out, but they are not responsible for what you had in your cup. Now imagine that you were wearing nice clothes. Would you be as upset if you spilled water on your clothes than if you spilled coffee? Obviously water would be better because it would not cause any lasting damage.
When you are walking through life and somebody “bumps” into you what spills out. This bump can be anything that rubs you wrong. From a comment, a harsh look or whatever, the list is endless. Yes they may have done something that was wrong, maybe even on purpose. What they are not responsible for is what spills out of you. If you have filled yourself with good things then good things will most likely spill out. Likewise if you have not filled yourself with good things then good things aren’t likely to spill out.
How do you do this? Be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:18-20 KJV). Fill your cup with the good things of God. As I have demonstrated to others. If you take a glass and fill with coffee that is all that you will see. You can place that glass under a faucet and turn the water on. Eventually all you will see is water as it will force out all of the coffee. Keep pouring the things of God into your spirit and eventually all of what was previously causing darkness in your life will be gone.
Finally, all of you must live in harmony, be sympathetic, love as brothers, and be compassionate and humble. Do not pay others back evil for evil or insult for insult. Instead, keep blessing them, because you were called to inherit a blessing (1 Peter 3:8-9 ISV).
Luke 6:45 KJV A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
