Have you ever played Where’s Waldo? You can spend a long time looking for Waldo. Often you’ll see someone dressed like him, but it’s not him. If you stick it out though you’ll eventually find him. Why don’t you quit looking when you find a character that looks similar? Because that’s not what you’re looking for.
My question to you is what are you looking for? Are you looking for peace or conflict? Are you looking to lift others up or put them down? It says in Proverbs 11:27 WEB He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.
You see you’ll find what you’re looking for if you keep looking for it. The Word says in Psalm 27:8 BBE When you said, Make search for my face, my heart said to you, For your face will I make my search.
Are we truly searching for Jesus. Or are we halfway looking for Him. Have you ever sent a child into a room to look for something? Often they walk in and immediately say, “I can’t find it.” You walk in right behind them and you find it with no problem. Why? Because you were actually looking for it. Are we dedicated to looking for Jesus and His ways? Are we searching the scriptures? Are we consistently praying? Are we applying ourselves to this mission? Or do we expect to accidentally happen upon these things?
I was told the story about a man that was plowing a field. He was told, by a friend, if you find something to look straight at you will make straight rows. His friend arrived and saw that his rows were insanely crooked. He asked, “why didn’t you find something to look at so you could make a straight row?” He replied, “I did, that cow over there.” You see he went towards what he was looking at. Be attentive to what you’re looking at because you go towards what you’re looking at.
Deuteronomy 4:29 KJV But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
There’s the key. When you search for Him with all your heart and soul.
Jeremiah 29:13 KJV And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
