I remember working one job where there were many machines that you could learn to operate. One time somebody asked me if I could learn to run a particular machine. I told them, “If somebody else can learn to do it, so can I.” This philosophy helped me learn how to operate most of the machines there.
This is something that we can apply in different places in our lives. One is in our walk with God.
Way back in Genesis there is a character that is mentioned. Although much isn’t said about him, what is said speaks volumes. He is mentioned very little throughout the Bible. That character is Enoch. This is what was said about him in Genesis 5:23-24 (KJV) And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Not a lot of words said, but a lot was said. One thing is that he lived 365 years. I find that very interesting as there are 365 days in a year. I would propose that if he could live for God and walk with Him for 365 years. Then we can walk with God 365 days out of a year. He did it without the Bible to read, he did it without the atoning work done on the cross, he did it without the Holy Ghost. He just walked with God. So much so that God just took him.
If Enoch could do this then we can too. We can just walk with God everyday. I’m not saying that we won’t fall, or that we won’t make mistakes. We don’t think it a strange thing throughout our lives if we fall physically every once in a while. Why, because if we walk long enough we are probably going to fall. We don’t just give up and lay on the ground, no we get back up and keep walking. That’s how you walk, you just keep walking. If the terrain changes, if the weather changes, if our emotions change, we don’t stop walking.
Let’s apply this to our walk with God. Just keep walking with Him, no matter what. If Enoch could do it, so can we.
Micah 6:8 KJV He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.
