You know there are things we grew up with that our children may have no idea about. They may not know how to write checks, or use a rotary phone. They may never go outside and turn the antenna so they can watch the TV or use whiteout on a document instead of backspace.
You see some things that we have known will be a foreign concept to new generations. Just think about trying to explain that to children one day, how absurd it will sound.
These things may be trivial and don’t really matter much. What does matter though, is that we must make sure that our children and generations to come know about Jesus and the things of God. We cannot let these things be forgotten. They must know about prayer. They must know about forgiveness. They must know about mercy and grace. They must know the sacrifice that Jesus made for our salvation. These things should not be foreign. These should be a part of our everyday lives. They must know these things, but that means we that we must make every effort to teach and instruct others in the ways of God.
Deuteronomy 6:7-9 WEB 7 and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates.
