Have you ever had someone that you wanted to spend personal time with? You wanted just you and them. It could be a friend, spouse or one of your children. Let’s say it’s your child and you decide to take them out to eat so you can spend one on one time with them. The time comes and they invite a friend. You still spend time with them, but not how you wanted. Worse yet, you go out and they spend the entire time on their phone. This is disheartening.
Sometimes God wants personal time with us. He draws us away from everyone to spend this time with us. Often we don’t recognize this for what it is. We feel alone. We feel like nobody wants to be around us. We don’t like these feelings so we call a friend. Or worse, we entertain ourselves on our phones. All the while our Father, the Creator of the universe wants to spend time with us.
Now it needs to be addressed. Adam and Eve hid themselves from His presence because they felt guilty. We shouldn’t hide ourselves from His presence because of guilt. This is a trick of the enemy. This removes us from the very one that can forgive and restore us. Instead we should run to God with our shame. For there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:1 KJV).
So if you feel alone, run to Him. If you feel empty, run to Him. If you feel guilty, run to Him. He’s waiting with arms wide open. For in His presence is fulness of joy (Psalm 16:11 KJV).
Also instead of waiting to be drawn away let’s look for alone time with God. Jesus did this, in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed (Mark 1:35 KJV).
James 4:8 WEB Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you….
Matthew 6:6 KJV But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
