I recently had to drive out of town for an appointment. It seemed a little hotter in my truck than normal, but I attributed it to the outside heat. Once I got back home I had to pick my son up from school. While sitting in the car line it was getting unbearable. I could feel that the ac was blowing coldish, but not as cold as normal and it wasn’t blowing very hard. I’m thinking what now, I’m going to have to get my truck into a shop. All this is going through my head and suddenly I see it, I found the problem. The recirculation button was not pushed in. So instead of taking the already cooled air and recirculating it, it was pulling the outside air and trying to cool it.
We too often begin to let the outside atmosphere affect us internally. If we have the Holy Ghost living inside of us then we shouldn’t let the world affect our peace. The world shouldn’t affect our joy. The world shouldn’t affect our atmosphere. If it’s affecting us then we are letting the outside atmosphere inside of us. We need to push the recirculation button in the Spirit. You have to stir up the gift of God which is in you (2 Timothy 1:6 NHEB). Notice what the very next verse says. For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NHEB). This is not coincidental, but truly makes the point of the Spirit controlling what is going on inside of us.
Remember that the Holy Ghost is also the Comforter and teacher. John 14:26 (KJV) the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The Holy Ghost is our guide. John 16:13 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.
The Holy Ghost is our power. Acts 1:8 (KJV) ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.
We must not forget what we have living inside of us. We must not forget that we have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Romans 8:15-16 KJV).
So if you are feeling the heat of the world seeping in, push that recirculation button and stir up the gift of God which is in you.
2 Corinthians 3:17 ISV Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Lord’s Spirit is, there is freedom.
