In John chapter 9 Jesus heals a blind man by spitting on the ground and making mud out of it. After placing it on his eyes Jesus told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam and he received his sight. In Mark 8 Jesus heals a blind man by spitting on his eyes and touching him. At first he said he saw men as trees. Then Jesus touched him again and he saw clearly. In Mark 10 Jesus heals Bartimaeus by speaking to him. In Matthew 9 after asking if they believed Jesus touched 2 blind men and they received their sight.
We see in different instances Jesus gave sight to the blind in different ways. Now these were physical healings. There is a spiritual blindness though that Jesus wants to heal. Paul speaks of this saying their minds were blinded (2 Corinthians 3:14 KJV). The Pharisees questioned Jesus about this saying we are not blind too, are we (John 9:40 NET)?
With the understanding that Jesus wants to give sight to those that are spiritually blind these stories can give us insight. Each of these received their sight in a different way. Each had their personal experience with Jesus that led them to receive their sight.
Each of us may have a different, but personal experience with Jesus that opens our eyes. Not only may our initial experience be different, but Jesus may speak to each of us differently. He will speak to us in a way that we understand.
The Disciples had different ways that they met Jesus. The discourse may have been different, but they all were called to follow Jesus.
Obviously I’m not saying that Jesus will call you to following a different gospel, not that there really is another gospel (Galatians 1:6-7 NET). I’m saying that Jesus has a personal relationship with each of us and may speak to us differently. The outcome though is the same neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more (John 8:11 KJV). Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord (2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV). I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12 KJV). For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:8 KJV).
I just want you to understand that this is personal with Jesus. He loves you personally and speaks to you personally. He will not change the message, but may change the method in which you receive it.
Luke 4:18 KJV The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
