My Mama dealt with diabetes for some time. At one point in her older age the doctor called all of us in to have a discussion. He told us that if Mama didn’t change what she was eating that within a year she’d be on dialysis. She agreed to change. Right after the meeting I took her to eat. Everything I offered that she could have she didn’t want. She wanted everything that she couldn’t have. Needless to say, she didn’t change and when the year was up we had another meeting. The doctor told us it was time to start dialysis. Mama piped up, “I’ll change what I’m eating.” The doctor and the rest of us told her that it was too late for that. She had the opportunity to change, but waited too long.
The Word speaks of a space to repent in Revelations 2:21 (KJV). We are all given a space to repent. We are all given the chance to turn things around. It says in Acts 17:30 (NET) Therefore, although God has overlooked such times of ignorance, he now commands all people everywhere to repent.
This is a golden opportunity that should not be passed up. Whenever we are faced with something that we need to change then we should be quick to repent. I have seen people run from God and end up in hospital beds where God was the only one that they could talk to. This was His grace giving them space to repent.
Don’t delay, don’t put it off until a more convenient time. Turn and run to God today.
