I’ve heard it time and time again. I’ll invite someone to church and they say, “I can’t go in there, the roof will fall in.” They say this in reference to how bad they think they have been. What they do not understand is that they are underestimating the mercy and grace of God.
Paul, who before his conversion had persecuted the church. Having them arrested and punished, even put to death. Yet God in His mercy and grace saw fit to save him. Paul would write these words in 1 Timothy 1:15-16 (NHEB) The saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience, for an example of those who were going to believe in him for everlasting life. You see where he says Jesus was displaying His patience for an example to those who would believe? That’s you and me. Jesus forgave a man that was actively persecuting and having Christians killed. So don’t think that He can’t forgive you.
If you are that person that thinks you’ve done too much and gone too far, I want you to do this. I want you to give God a chance. Turn to Him today and see what He can do for you and with you, for He is not willing that any should perish.
2 Peter 3:9 KJV The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
