Let’s look at some scriptures in Exodus.
Exodus 6:
6. Here is my message for Israel: “I am the Lord! And with my mighty power I will punish the Egyptians and free you from slavery. 7 I will accept you as my people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I was the one who rescued you from the Egyptians. 8 I will bring you into the land that I solemnly promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and it will be yours. I am the Lord!”
What a wonderful promise that God sent through Moses. You would think that the Israelites would have been excited to hear this. But that’s not what happened.
9 When Moses told this to the Israelites, they were too discouraged and mistreated to believe him.
Have you ever had this happen? You were so down, so discouraged, so beat down that you couldn’t even muster up enough courage to believe a promise? You couldn’t believe it when the preacher told you that God would deliver you. You couldn’t believe it when your friends told you you’d survive. You wanted to believe it, but you were just too far down. Look at what the Lord said to Moses next.
10 Then the Lord told Moses 11 to demand that the king of Egypt let the Israelites leave.
He didn’t rebuke Israel for this. No He knew the condition that they were in. He knew they couldn’t get themselves out of this, so He ordered their persecutor to release them.
He knows your condition too. It’s not a condition of rebellion, but rather overwhelming weight. He isn’t looking down on you, but as a father has compassion for his children, so the LORD has compassion for those who fear him. For he knows how we were formed, aware that we were made from dust (Psalm 103:13-14 ISV).
And we as father’s have compassion on our children and Jesus said this in Matthew 7:9-11 (KJV) Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
So knowing that God has more compassion than we do. How would you feel towards your child or anyone else that was this far cast down? That they couldn’t seem to even grasp a hold of a little bit of hope. You would have compassion and so does God. God has compassion on you when you get this low. He will command that you be set free.
So hold on and say I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1-2 KJV).
Know that He will not forsake you and He isn’t angry with you for this. He is a compassionate Savior and will set you free.
Romans 15:13 KJV Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Psalm 118:5 KJV I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.
