
If you read the Old Testament you will see a lot of ups and downs with Israel. They will turn from God and come under persecution. Then they will cry out to God and He will deliver them. While this is a picture of human depravity and nature to sin. It’s also a story of God’s longsuffering and grace.
This is important for us to understand. So if we stumble, if we fall, if our faith wavers and yes even if we walk away. It’s important to know that He is a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth (Psalm 86:15 KJV).
If He forgave Israel over and over under the old covenant. Don’t you think He will forgive you under the new covenant that He purchased with His blood. Think about it if God let the snake on the ark by grace won’t He show you grace too?
Yes, He will forgive. He stands with arms open wide waiting for us to run to Him for help, no matter what we’ve done. Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help (Hebrews 4:16 NET).
