Lachish

Have you ever heard of Lachish? Lachish was a major fortified city in the Kingdom of Judah, mentioned only a handful of times in the Bible. Lachish was a strategically important city in the Kingdom of Judah, serving as the second most important city after Jerusalem. Its importance in the Bible stems from its vital role as a fortified stronghold on the main road from Egypt, guarding Judah’s southern border. It is said if Lachish fell, Jerusalem would likely be next.

Though it was second only to Jerusalem I feel it’s safe to say that most people have never heard of it. It was a very vital city, but so unknown. Would you want to be an inhabitant of Lachish? To be unknown and widely unrecognized. This is what being a prayer warrior is like. You won’t get recognized, you may not be very well known or seen by many. There are some that will know you. The enemy will know because you stand ready to war in the Spirit when necessary. This is why the evil spirit in said Acts 19:15 (KJV) Paul I know. God will see you for the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers (1 Peter 3:12 KJV).

The question is are you willing to stand in the gap for others without any recognition? Are you willing to go to war in the Spirit? Are you willing for God to wake you up in the middle of the night to pray, because a battle is going on in the Spirit? Are you willing to inhabit Lachish spiritually in order to protect others? For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens (Ephesians 6:12 NET). Answer the call to be a prayer warrior. Make hell tremble when you pray.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 KJV 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

1 Timothy 2:1 NET First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people,

Ephesians 6:18 NET With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and requests for all the saints.
