Just One Drink

Have you ever had someone ask you for a drink of whatever you were drinking? You then pass them the drink, not paying attention to how much they are drinking. Then they hand it back empty. At this point you say, ” I thought you wanted A drink.” To which they reply, “that was A drink.” They took everything in 1 drink.

I would like to take a few minutes here and discuss how Jesus is that 1 drink. How it’s all in Him.

In John Chapter 4 Jesus has discourse with the woman at the well.

John 4:10-14 KJV 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Jesus said that He gives living water here. So He is the source of the living water.

Jesus said if any man thirst let him come unto Me.

John 7:37-39 KJV 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

So Jesus is saying that the Holy Ghost is the living water.

In Jeremiah 17:13  God is called the fountain of living waters.

So now we have 3 different scriptures saying that God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost are the living water. Well there is only 1 source of living water. So what’s the scriptures saying? Let me clarify.

1 John 5:7 KJV For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

So we see here that God, the Word, and the Holy Ghost are 1.

Jesus said in John 10:30 KJV I and my Father are one.

Plus it says in John 1:1+14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Word became flesh, that was Jesus. So Jesus is the Word and the Word is God.

Here’s a few more examples.

We all know that God is the Father, so I won’t belabor that point. Let’s go through a few scriptures here. Everyone agrees that Isaiah 9:6 is a prophecy about Jesus, so let’s look into that scripture first.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Jesus is prophesied to be many things here. Notice in this it says that He will be called the mighty God, the everlasting Father. So Jesus is God and the Father.

Now let’s look in the book of Matthew where the angel is speaking to Joseph.

Matthew 1:20 KJV But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

So Jesus is a child of the Holy Ghost, which makes the Holy Ghost the Father as well.

Okay so what about Matthew 28:19 KJV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Isn’t this separating the 3 into different entities? Not really, not if you’re paying attention to the details. Because the details are important. It says baptizing in the name which is singular. Need more help with that?

This was the disciples that Jesus was talking to. So they were all there at this time. Then they are all in the upper room in Acts chapter 2. In verse 38 Peter says something.

Acts 2:38 KJV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Now he just told everybody to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. If he would have said this incorrectly the other disciples would have corrected him, but they didn’t. Because they understood that this is what Jesus was saying that His name is the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

It says in 1 Timothy 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

God was manifested in the flesh, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. This is obviously talking about Jesus. An easier way to possibly understand it is like this. God was manifested in the flesh right? So Jesus was the flesh of God. You could easily put flesh in the place of son and it may help you understand it better.

What am I saying? I’m saying the same thing that I said in the beginning. Jesus is that 1 drink. These 3 are 1 and it’s all in Him.

Colossians 2:9 KJV For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
