Joy

My oldest son Joshua when he was a young boy was riding with me one day and asked me a question. He said, “Daddy, do you make Jesus happy?” I responded, “well I hope I make Jesus happy.” He comes back with, “I make Jesus happy.” I said, “Really, how do you do that?” He said, “because I’m happy.”

There was a lot of depth in that comment. This happiness he spoke of was rooted in joy, which is rooted in Jesus. You see if your happiness is rooted in anything else it can be taken away. But if the joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10 KJV), then you can remain strong even in the face of opposition. Because even in opposition you can remember that in His presence is fulness of joy (Psalm 16:11 KJV).

Have you been struggling with not being happy, not being full of joy? Ask God to restore the joy of thy salvation (Psalm 51:12 KJV). This joy can sustain you, strengthen you and fill you with happiness. Because if you have salvation then you have much to be joyful about. Don’t lose sight of this. Don’t get so focused on this life and it’s troubles that you forget the salvation that Jesus provided for you. Remember that you get to talk with Jesus, you get to read His word, you get to spend time in His presence. Say with me, blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation (Psalm 68:19 KJV).

Psalm 144:15 KJV Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

John 15:11 KJV These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
