My wife and I decided that we were going to plant a few fruit trees one year. We purchased a few peach trees and decided where we would plant them. We got them in the ground and it rained for a month. It drowned the roots of our peach trees and we lost all of them.
One could try to pick this apart and say the devil was attacking. Or that it was some type of punishment. I say it was just rain. It was just time to rain and I happened to plant my trees at the same time. Am I saying it’s just life? Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying.
The Word says that God sends rain on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45 WEB). Is rain good or bad? The answer is in the form of a question. Do you need it? If you’re in a drought and need rain then it’s a blessing. If you’re trying to build a house or plant a garden, too much rain is not a good thing.
So what does this mean? It means good and bad happen to us all. We will all suffer loss. We will all experience pain. We will all be blessed at some point. We will all have something good happen.
Why am I spending time talking about this? So you don’t get tripped up when something bad happens to you. So you don’t fall into the trap of you somehow deserve this. Or the lie that God is mad at you and is punishing you. You need to understand that sometimes it’s just life.
As I’ve told my children. If you have a flat tire it doesn’t mean that the devil is attacking you. It probably means you ran over a nail. Don’t over spiritualize everything. Yes there are real spiritual battles. Yes, common things can become an attack. It does not mean though every time something happens it is an attack.
What do we do when life gets us down? Remember this verse in 1 Corinthians 15:19 KJV If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. Our hope is not in this life. Our hope is in Jesus. Our hope is in heaven.
Isaiah 40:31 Easy English But people who hope for help from the LORD will get back their strength. They will fly high on wings like (large birds called) eagles. They will run and they will not become tired. They will walk and they will not fall over.
