Hung Up 

How many times have you been dragging an extension cord or a water hose and it gets hung up on something? I’ve even made the comment that if I ever jump out of an airplane I don’t need a parachute just give me an extension cord, it’ll hang on something before I hit the ground. You know why they get hung up on stuff, they’re loose, or unstable. If you are dragging a board or straight piece of pipe the likelihood of it getting hung up on something is low. 

Have you ever seen somebody that gets hung up on every little thing? It’s usually simple things. They don’t like the songs sung at church. The Preacher preaches too loud or too long. (Side note how loud would you be trying to stop a person from walking into the path of a semi truck. How loud should you be trying to stop them from going to hell? How long would you talk to someone to try to keep them from hell?) Okay back on subject. They start with this then they get hung up on the Word of God. They begin to pick apart the Word, questioning the validity of things. Almost like they are trying to find a loophole or flaw. Paul would say: The goal of this instruction is love that flows from a pure heart, from a clear conscience, and from a sincere faith. Some people have left these qualities behind and have turned to fruitless discussion. They want to be teachers of the Law, yet they do not understand either what they are talking about or the things about which they speak so confidently (1 Timothy 1:5-7 ISV).

If our discussion is fruitless then we should change our discussion. We should not be unstable, but standing firm in the faith. We have to trust God, really trust God. Live for God, not just casually because that will get you hung up on things. Be a good soldier.
