Once, when I was a teenager, I was in the front yard and stepped on a board that had staples sticking up out of it. Well, needless to say the staples went through my shoe and into my foot. I immediately looked around for help. When I didn’t see any, I hopped on one foot to the house. Still not finding anyone, I hopped back to the front yard. At this point I decided that I just had to do it myself. So I sat down and placed the other foot on the board to hold it down and picked my foot up off of the staples.
Sometimes in our spiritual walk we may find ourselves in situations when there isn’t anyone there to help. It may just be God and us. David found himself in a position where nobody was going to comfort him. In 1 Samuel 30:6 KJV And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
If we find ourselves in a place where no one’s there for us, remember Jesus is always there. Sometimes this is even by design. Because if we never find ourselves in a position to lean totally on Jesus, then we will be missing a great aspect of faith. We can’t always call a friend every time we have trouble, but we can call on Jesus every time.
Psalm 3:3 KJV But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
