Grounded In Love

I recently was having some issues going on with my truck. It was randomly throwing alarms and the power was surging. At one point the truck even died when I stopped and switched gears. It ended up being a simple grounding issue causing everything.

In our walk with God we must stay grounded. When we are serving God, we will serve others. When we serve others we must do it in love. Everything you do should be done in love (1 Corinthians 16:14 NET). Because love is what will keep us grounded.

If we don’t do it in love we will begin to have all kinds of issues. We will get tired of serving. We may grow tired of others. Then will start missing (church that is) and finally die spiritually.

Let’s read what the Word says about love in 1 Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 13:1-8 (NET) 1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, but do not have love, I receive no benefit. 4 Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful. 6 It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends….

You see there’s a lot of servitude mentioned in this chapter. The servitude itself isn’t wrong. No, what’s wrong is to do it without love. Love is what keeps us connected to Jesus so it should be what keeps us connected to others.

Remember how it says in Galatians 6:9 (KJV) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Well how do you not grow weary in well doing? The answer is in the verse above: Love never ends. The word in this verse for “end” is “faileth” in the KJV. If you study this word out one meaning is to be driven out of one’s course. So you could say that love will never let you be driven out of your course. We won’t be driven off course if we are working in love.

So continue serving in love then we will stay grounded in serving and reaching for others.

Ephesians 3:17 KJV That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.

John 13:35 KJV By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
