Getting Ready

Tomorrow is Christmas Day! Most people are getting ready for Christmas tomorrow. Many in different ways, but nevertheless they are getting ready.

I’ve thought, what were Mary and Joseph doing to get ready? Were they gathering clean water and cloth? Were they clearing an area in the stable? I mean Jesus was coming the next day. Did they even know that Jesus was coming the next day? Or did she suddenly wake up and realize that she was in labor and there was no time to get ready?

What if Jesus were coming back tomorrow? What are you doing today to prepare for tomorrow in case He does? For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (1 Thessalonians 5:2 KJV) What if tomorrow was the day? Have you made your calling and election sure? Have you worked out your salvation with fear and trembling? If you have not, do not delay. I pray that these words pierce your heart as the crowd in Acts 2:37 and you ask as they did: Men and brethren, what shall we do?

What did Peter say in response to this?

Acts 2:38 KJV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Do not put this off. Do not think you have plenty of time. Instead heed the words that Jesus spoke:

Matthew 24:44 KJV Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
