Fully Dressed

When someone asks me if I have my pocket knife on me, my usual response is, “I’ve got my pants on, don’t I?” Obviously implying that if I’m dressed then I have my pocket knife.

There are things that we should always have with us. We read in Isaiah 61 about the garment of praise. Praise should be such a part of us that we wear it wherever we go. We should be ready to give praise to God at any given point in time.

Another thing we should always have with us is the Word of God. We read in Deuteronomy 6:6-8 (ISV) Let these words that I’m commanding you today be always on your heart. Teach them repeatedly to your children. Talk about them while sitting in your house or walking on the road, and as you lie down or get up. Tie them as reminders on your forearm, bind them on your forehead.

If we are wearing praise as a garment. If we are wearing the Word of God. Then it is easy to fulfill what we read in Colossians 3:12 (NET) Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

If we as children of God go out and aren’t wearing these things, then we’re not fully dressed.

Psalm 149:6 KJV Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;
