I was having a conversation with a fella once. In this conversation it came up that I have a type of color blindness that I have trouble differentiating between some colors. One of the colors is red. He asked me, “well, what does red look like to you?” I replied, “It looks like my red.” How do you explain a color that you see differently? It’s unexplainable.
This is how receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost and having the Holy Ghost living inside of you feels. You just can’t explain it. How do you explain something so wonderful?
In John 14 Jesus calls the Holy Ghost the Comforter and the Spirit of Truth. He says in John 16:13 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
He tells the disciples in Luke 24:49 (KJV) And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Peter verifies that the Holy Ghost is that promise in Acts 2:33 KJV having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. He says this in explanation of what happened in Acts 2:1-4 KJV 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
This is what they were seeing and hearing was the outpouring of the Holy Ghost for the very first time.
Upon hearing Peter preaching Jesus they asked in verse 37 what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Act 2:38 KJV) .
But he didn’t stop there, he follows it with for the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:39 KJV). Those that are afar off were not just those far off from their location, but those afar in time. That’s you, that’s me.
Why am I telling you all of this? Because you can’t explain it, you have to experience it for yourself. You can receive the Holy Ghost and experience this for yourself.
John 14:26 KJV But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
