A pet peeve of mine is for someone to ignore me, be it in person or in text. Usually if someone ignores me when I’m speaking to them, it’s because they are distracted. Most of the time nowadays they are distracted by their phones. When I text someone, it may be that they are busy and don’t have time to look at the message. Perhaps they saw the message, but they are so busy they forget to respond.
Can you imagine ignoring God? How do you think God feels when we ignore Him? God sends His Word out to us. He has sent the written Word of God and He has sent those that teach and preach it. We must let God’s Word work in us and respond to it. Because if we don’t respond to it, the very Word sent out to be a blessing could turn into a curse. Remember, God said His Word would not return void (Isaiah 55:11), it will accomplish something. In Deuteronomy it says it will be a blessing if you obey God’s Word and a curse if you don’t (Deuteronomy 11:26-28). The very Word will judge us. So given the choice why not allow the Word to be a blessing as it is intended and respond to it and let it do a good work in us. Don’t be too distracted that we miss what God is trying to tell us. After all he rewards those who sincerely seek him (Hebrews 11:6 NLT).
