We’ve all most likely done it. Went to a potluck dinner and got a hold of something that was not good. You then have to fake wipe your face with a napkin and spit the food into the napkin. Now imagine getting back in line and getting another helping of the same thing. That sounds ridiculous doesn’t it?
As ridiculous as this sounds, we often do this in our lives. We get into a bad situation and finally find our way out just to go back into that situation. Worse yet is one that finds their way to God. Then turns around to go back to the sin that they were delivered from. The Word says it like this. As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly (Proverbs 26:11 KJV). Don’t be like this. Don’t go back to the table and get the same thing that just disgusted you. Don’t break back into the prison that you got out of.
Instead keep forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14 KJV).
Hebrews 10:39 ISV Now, we do not belong to those who turn back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 WEB Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.
