Divine Appointments

I had gone to visit my brother Cecil who was in the hospital in Baton Rouge once in critical condition. After spending some time down there it was time for me to head back. Wouldn’t you know there was one delay after another. I wanted to leave before traffic got too bad, but this didn’t happen. The traffic slowed my trip home down significantly. I didn’t want to stop in all this traffic to get gas so I waited until I reached Krotz Springs. I was tired and still had a long way to drive so I was going to get an energy drink. Well the line was backed way up so I decided against it. As I went to walk out I noticed a coffee bar in the very front of the store, that I had not noticed when I entered the store. So I stopped and ordered a coffee. As they were making my coffee I stepped over to let the lady behind me order. We began to chit chat about where we were headed. She asked if I had family that lived in Baton Rouge. I told her no, my brother was in the hospital there. She said that she was sorry to hear that and asked how he was. I told her not good and that he had been airlifted from Alexandria last week. She said from where. I told her which hospital. She asked if he had a head injury. I answered yes, wondering how she knew this. She asked when. I told her last Friday. She then said I work at that hospital and helped take care of him. She then said I’m going to pray for him now. We stood there and prayed for him.

This was a divine appointment. God had orchestrated this to show that He was present in this situation. I had what I called delays on this trip. I left later than I wanted to. The traffic was bad and slow. I just wanted to get home. What I called delays was God placing me in just the right place at the right time. We were both in a town that neither of us lived, headed in different directions. But God had His hand in it and put us standing at the same place getting coffee.

Remember when you get delayed and you just can’t seem to get where you are heading. Remember when things aren’t going according to your plan that God may be purposely slowing you down. Who knows the wrecks that He has kept us from or the situations that He has kept us from? Who knows the person that you’re supposed to talk to. We may never know why we got delayed, but if we trust that God is guiding our steps then we can find peace in the delays.

Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psalms 32:8 NLT 8 The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.

Proverbs 20:24 NET The steps of a person are ordained by the LORD – so how can anyone understand his own way?

Definitely know God has had hand on us many times, I remember traveling to Tennessee on vacation one time, had stopped along the way and got some refreshments, started to get back on the road, looked to the left and 2 vehicles had crashed and one was heading straight down the road where we were about to pull out. If we had pulled out a minute earlier we would have been in a bad wreck. God is so Good, He protects us each and every day

Yes He is, even when we don’t know it He’s watching over us.
