Over the years I’ve had many conversations with people about dedication to God. Be it prayer time, reading the Bible, attending church, etc. I’ve heard many things said over the years.
I start praying or reading my Bible and then I get distracted, before I know it I’m way over in left field. I had all intentions of doing this or that, but I forgot. Look I do understand that we are human and I am guilty myself of some of these.
How about the more blatant comments? I’m too busy to live for God. I once heard, I’ve got too many hobbies for that. Upon inviting a friend to church once they said, I don’t know what I’m doing on that day. I told him, nothing more important. Or there’s the: I can’t do this or that thing, it costs too much, it requires too much sacrifice.
Can you imagine if God treated us the way we treated Him? Think about these “what if’s.” If He got distracted from our conversation with Him. If He forgot to spend time with us. If He decided that He had more important things to do. If He was too busy. If He would have decided that the sacrifice of the cross cost too much. I know that doesn’t taste good, but it’s good medicine. I thank God that He is not like us and has compassion on us. I would say next time you find yourself wavering in our dedication to God think about this. Then turn back around and go towards God.
Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Numbers 23:19 KJV God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
