Comfortable With The Enemy

The story of Samson can teach us many lessons. One of those lessons is how comfortable he got with the enemy. You see Delilah was a Philistine. These were enemies of Israel. Samson got into a relationship with her. She then starts enquiring about where his strength comes from. This should have been a red flag, especially when she tested what he told her each time. He finally tells her the truth. The next thing we see is Samson asleep with his head in the lap of Delilah. His hair gets cut, they put his eyes out and make him a slave.

If we get too comfortable with the world and worldly things, we start to drop our guard. We don’t see the clear danger in things. Soon we will find ourselves with our head resting in the lap of the world, totally conformable with something that we shouldn’t be conformable with. Then we will break our covenant with the Lord and lose our vision. Then we will be slaves to sin.

Paul would write Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret (Ephesians 5:11-12 WEB). And he would also write what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB)?

You see we aren’t supposed to be comfortable in sin. We are supposed to shine a light in the darkness, not be enveloped in it. Make sure that you stay attentive and don’t get comfortable with something you shouldn’t be conformable with.

Romans 12:2 WEB Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

2 Corinthians 6:17 WEB Therefore   “‘Come out from among them, and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you.
