Come Home

In Luke 15 we find the parable of the prodigal son. We see the wonderful love of the father displayed in this parable. It didn’t matter how far his son had gone, he was still his son. He still loved him. The scripture says that when the prodigal was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him (Luke 15:20 KJV). This meant his father was looking for him to return. He was continually looking down the road to see if he was coming home.

You may think that you’ve gone too far for God to forgive you. You think you’ve gone too far for Him to find you.

What did the psalmist say about being able to escape God’s presence?

Where can I flee from your spirit? Or where will I run from your presence? If I rise to heaven, there you are! If I lay down with the dead, there you are! If I take wings with the dawn   and settle down on the western horizon your hand will guide me there, too, while your right hand keeps a firm grip on me. If I say, “Darkness will surely conceal me, and the light around me will become night,” even darkness isn’t dark to you,   darkness and light are the same to you (Psalm 139:7-12 ISV).

So you see it doesn’t matter where you are in life or circumstance God still sees you. He still cares and wants you to come to Him. So we should draw near to Him without fear. Because he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25 WEB). Uttermost can mean to the greatest degree, extent, or limit. You see He saves the uttermost. Jesus is making intercession for you. It is His sacrifice that atones for our sins. You have not outsinned the grace of God. You just need to come home to Him.

Your heavenly Father is waiting and watching for you to come home. He loves you and has not forgotten you, nor written you off. Why wait any longer? Come home to the embrace of your Father.

Isaiah 44:22 NET I remove the guilt of your rebellious deeds as if they were a cloud, the guilt of your sins as if they were a cloud. Come back to me, for I protect you.”
