Have you ever visited somewhere that had stone sculptures? The time and effort that goes into these impresses me. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small sculpture that could fit on your desktop, or if it’s Mount Rushmore. There is chiseling involved. Larger projects lead to a lot of strenuous work, removing large chunks of stone and requiring perseverance, while smaller sculptures require patience as it takes a lot of tedious and precise actions to create the image. Either way you start with stone of some kind and you work it to make whatever it is that you intend for it to be. I posed this question to someone once. Which chisel strike makes the sculpture? The answer is every one of them. The little chisel strikes and the larger ones make the complete sculpture.
It says in Romans 5:3-5 (BBE) 3 And not only so, but let us have joy in our troubles: in the knowledge that trouble gives us the power of waiting; 4 And waiting gives experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope does not put to shame; because our hearts are full of the love of God through the Holy Spirit which is given to us. You see we will have troubles and these troubles big or small help shape us into what God would have us be. Knowing this can help us to be attentive in our troubles that God may be using it to chisel something out of us to make us more like Him. We must be patient in the process and let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing (James 1:4 KJV) .So let’s not be so hasty to throw our hands in the air in a huff when troubles arise. No, let’s be patient and let God do a good work in us.
Isaiah 64:8 KJV But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Philippians 1:6 NHEB being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.
