Chilling Hours

Did you know that fruit trees need a certain amount of cold chilling hours to produce fruit? What are chill hours you say? Well, I’m glad you asked. Chill hours are the number of hours spent below the temperature of 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Here’s the thing, the chill hours do not have to be consecutive; it is a cumulative total for the year. As long as the tree experiences the total amount of chilling hours they will produce fruit. If they do not, the tree will bloom and look real pretty. It will not produce fruit though.

The Word says in 1 Peter 4:12 KJV Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. We have to go through trials, tough times, times that are uncomfortable; chilling hours if you will. These times though they may be to help us to produce fruit.

You see, every season is important. The cold, the hot, the dry, the blooming, the producing, the dormant. Don’t think because you are in a different season that isn’t as exciting that God has left you or that you have fallen out of the will of God. It’s just another season.

Without all the seasons we will never fully grow into what we are supposed to be. So if you are going through a tough season, know that it may be what you need to help you fulfill your purpose.

John 15:8 KJV Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

1 Peter 1 NLT

6. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. 7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
