A Father That Can Be Trusted

When playing with my children when they were young, I would sometimes look at them and tell them to trust me. One of those times was when I tossed them in the air. I always kept one hand connected to them, never letting them get beyond my reach, although they didn’t realize it. Other times, I had to remove a splinter. I would have them look straight into my eyes and tell them to trust me.

Both of these experiences, along with many others, carried an element of fear, the fear of pain, or the fear of falling. But over time, they learned they could trust me. They learned it so well that today, as adults, they still ask me for advice.

Our heavenly Father also wants what is best for us. If we trust in God’s Word and believe it is the truth, if we believe He created the heavens and the earth, that Jesus was born of a virgin, died for our sins, and rose again to offer us free salvation, then why do we worry?

Trust God. The Bible tells us over and over to trust Him. He was not caught off guard by your current situation. It did not sneak up on Him or leave Him scratching His head. He has not let go of you. He is a loving Father who watches out for His children. Trust Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
