A Bad Deal Or A Good Deal

Have you ever gotten into a bad deal? It may have been that car that you really wanted. It may have been that “toy” in the form of an atv or camper. It might have even been your house. Either way, we’ve all most likely gotten into a bad deal. My oldest son Joshua once got into one of those deals. He was having trouble (not just a little) out of the truck that he owned. The opportunity arose for him to get out of it and into a much newer truck. Well the dealership got him in contract at 26% interest. I had people ask me, “why did you let them do that to that boy?” To which I replied, “there wasn’t a thing that I could have told him to change his mind.” Now I did get him with my banker once we got home and got him a much better interest rate. How many times though do people get into contracts that they cannot get out of? Too many times they may lose whatever it was they got because they cannot afford the debt. Way too often people unknowingly enter into contract with the devil. You see with the devil it’s kinda like that app you download on your phone for free, because it makes something more convenient. Not knowing that in the fine print there is a contract that will cost you. You often don’t need to do anything to enter a contract with the enemy. Honestly that’s the best way to enter a contract with the devil. Soon you are living a life in contract with the devil and don’t even know it. Nothing may have changed in your life. Everything may be rocking along just right until he comes to collect the debt. Don’t be caught in this trap. No Jesus paid the price so that we could be free from the debt owed. He died on the Cross to set us free. He has risen and has provided a way of escape. The word Testament means covenant and the word covenant means contract. So the New Testament is the New Covenant or contract.

With Jesus there is no hidden way to enter into contract or covenant. No, you have to be purposeful about it. Jesus tells Nicodemus this in

John 3:5 NHEB Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

This is what you have to do. You must be born again and Jesus will cancel your debt. “He paid a debt that he did not owe to pay the price that we could not pay.”

Colossians 2:13-14 ESV

13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,

14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
