Have you ever considered the difference between projected or reflected light? Reflected light is passive, it captures what’s already there. While projected light is active. A flashlight projects light from within. If the light from the flashlight hits glass or a mirror the light is reflected.
Projected light is brighter and whiter than reflected. It glows through your image, as opposed to bouncing off your image. Like a computer screen will always be brighter, lighter and more visible than something printed. Reflected light doesn’t enter the core whereas projected light does. Projected light comes from within shining outward.
Jesus said I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12 KJV). If we have Jesus living in us we can project His light.
Jesus also said You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14 NET). We are called to be the light of the world, not the mirrors. The problem with mirrors is they reflect whatever they are facing. Flashlights light up what they are facing. If you drape a mirror in a blanket it won’t produce light. But a flashlight will still shine even if covered in something to create darkness. The light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out (John 1:5 ISV).
We aren’t supposed to reflect, but project His light. We are supposed to
walk in the light, as he is in the light (1 John 1:7 KJV).
So go forward with this mindset that you are going to project His light. That you will pierce the darkness with the light that shines from within.
Matthew 5:16 KJV Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
