I had this tree that had mostly been taken down. There was a large stump about 8 feet tall that I needed gone. After a long time I finally decided to tackle it. I gathered the limbs from around it, piling them up close. Then I began the process of burning it down. I was concerned that this was going to take a long time because of the size of the stump. I got on one side and saw a hollowed out spot in the center that I had forgotten about. So I then began to get the center caught on fire. Once it started, it was a quick process. The fire consumed the rottenness from the inside and the stump was burned out in a matter of days. I had to keep restacking loose limbs and such, but it went very well.
We may have something in our lives that we want gone. It may stand as a remembrance of something that we once admired, but now we see the rottenness that it is. We too can burn the rottenness out of our lives by letting the fire of the Holy Ghost burn within us. Change has to start from the inside.
Matthew 3:11 KJV I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.
Matthew 23:26 BBE You blind Pharisee, first make clean the inside of the cup and of the plate, so that the outside may become equally clean.
