Insufficient Funds

Insufficient funds. Boy, that’s one we never like to see. You go to the bank to get some money or worse you’re standing in a line to buy something and you swipe your card and see the words insufficient funds pop up. Not only are you embarrassed, but now you can’t pay for what you need. There could have been many reasons that got you in this position, but mostly is that you didn’t know how much was in your account. It’s always best to keep a watch on your accounts so you know where you are and how much you have. So that you don’t find yourself with insufficient funds.

We find a parable of the foolish virgins in Matthew 25. In verse 3 it says Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them (Matthew 25:3 WEB). They didn’t take any extra, but only enough to fill their lamps. Why, because they thought surely the bridegroom would arrive by a certain time.

We must be careful that our faith isn’t based on God coming through at a certain time or a certain way. It is dangerous to limit God by our faith being in a certain amount of time. Because when He doesn’t come through in that time frame that we expect, our faith will begin to burn out. Understand that God will seldom do things in the time frame that we think things should happen.

We must put our faith in God, not a time frame. Nor limit Him by it having to happen a certain way. By putting our faith in God and His timing we take extra “oil for our lamps.” We have faith to believe God even if it doesn’t work out like we thought it would. We have faith that lasts the test of time.

Galatians 6:9 WEB Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up.
