My wife and I were headed back from an appointment out of town. I looked ahead and asked her, “Does that look like rain or fog way up ahead?” She looked and replied, “I’m not sure, but it doesn’t really matter because we have to go through it.” You see whatever it was, it was between us and home. So if we were going to make it home then we had to go through it.
The same rule applies to the road to heaven. There will be tests, trials, storms, heartaches, etc. Who knows what we may have to endure, but we must endure them unto the end. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 2:3 WEB).
Yes there will be troubles, Jesus even said in John 16:33 (ISV) I have told you this so that through me you may have peace. In the world you’ll have trouble, but be courageous—I’ve overcome the world!”
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 BBE 17 For our present trouble, which is only for a short time, is working out for us a much greater weight of glory; 18 While our minds are not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are for a time; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Our troubles may seem to last too long and sometimes they may feel too hard. But compared to eternity it’s only a short time.
When the trial arises, when the storm rages, when the pain is almost unbearable. Remember as the old song says: “It’s gonna be worth it all some beautiful happy day. Gonna be worth every long mile, every heartache and every trial. It’s gonna be worth it all, some beautiful happy day.” Yes it will be worth it all when we get to heaven. So don’t give up, don’t stop moving forward. Keep moving toward our eternal home.
James 1:12 ESV Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
