Have you ever felt so down, so crushed by life that you felt alone? You felt so low that you felt like even God didn’t know where you were.
Isaiah 57:15 KJV For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Did you see it? God who inhabits eternity dwells in the high and holy place WITH him that is of a contrite and humble spirit. With him, that means if you’re in this position God has lifted you to a higher position closer to Him. As it says in James 1:9 KJV Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted.
Contrite in this verse can mean crushed. Sometimes we feel crushed under the heavy load of life. Life and its demands can overwhelm us at times, but if we lean on Jesus for our help. We can cast our worries on Him.
1 Peter 5:6-7 ISV
6 Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you.
7 Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you. Or as it says in the BBE translation: Putting all your troubles on him, for he takes care of you.
Jesus cares about you. He cares about the things that affect you. If it matters to you, then it matters to Him.
Let’s look at the next scriptures.
1 Peter 5:8-9 ISV
8 Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
9 Resist him and be firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
Look at what is said here. The devil is looking for someone to devour. Then it says know that your brothers are suffering too. The devil wants you to feel alone and feel like you’re the only one suffering. You are not, but if he can convince you of this then he can get you isolated. If you are isolated then it is easier for him to devour you, just like a lion would isolate his prey. Resist him. Think of it in a modern interpretation. Like resisting arrest. Resisting arrest comes with actions. Fight back, don’t accept the lies that the devil tells you.
Matthew 10:29-31 ISV
29 “Two sparrows are sold for a penny, aren’t they? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s permission.
30 Indeed, even the hairs on your head have all been counted!
31 So stop being afraid. You are worth more than a bunch of sparrows.”
You are of great value to God, never forget that. You were worth the blood of Jesus, that’s great value.
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
