Guilty as charged! That sometimes is the comment you hear coming from someone who is told that they are smart aleck. Not only do they admit guilt but they confirm it with a smart aleck remark.
The thought comes to mind about being guilty of something and being proud of that guilt. We should be found guilty of being compassionate. We should be found guilty of loving our neighbors. We should be found guilty of reaching out for the lost. We should be found guilty of sharing the gospel. We should be found guilty of talking about Jesus to others. We should be found guilty for being like Christ.
Or will we be innocent? Innocent of letting those around us come and go and never mentioning Jesus to them? Will we be innocent of being patient with others? Will we be innocent of sharing with those less fortunate? Will we be innocent of the good things we could have done? Or will we be guilty of the good things that we have done?
Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
James 4:17 (NET)
So whoever knows what is good to do and does not do it is guilty of sin.
