Trusting the Driver

My six-year-old, Isaac, likes to know what’s going on. He always wants the plan: what we’re doing and where we’re going. In fact, if we have to use a GPS, he insists we place it where he can see it from the backseat.

One day while out of town, we decided to surprise him with a visit to a local aquarium. Isaac kept asking his Mama where we were headed. She playfully told him, “You’ll see.” He asked a couple more times until she finally said, “Sometimes you just gotta trust, even if you don’t know where we’re headed.”

We often find ourselves sitting right in Isaac’s seat. We want to know the plan. Where are we going? What are we doing when we get there? What’s next after that?

What we have to learn is to trust, even when we don’t know the destination, and even when the route doesn’t make sense. We have got to learn to trust God.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
