Decorative crosses, we see them everywhere. Hanging on walls, sitting on table tops, even hanging around peoples necks. I mean, they are nice decorations, right. They have all these designs in them and are supposed to tell people “Hey I’m a Christian.”
This is how many like Jesus to be in their lives, as a decoration. Something to pretty up their lives, but no sacrifice involved. Something in the background to give the semblance that they are a Christian, but no real change in their lives.
Unfortunately people misunderstand the Cross; it comes with sacrifice. The Cross of Christ was not pretty. It was bloody, and it was hard. Having a cross in our life demands change. It requires death to a life of sin. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin (Romans 6:6 KJV).
Lets aim to be more like Jesus and have Him at the center of our lives, not just a decorative ornament, but rather as the defining part of our lives.
Galatians 2:20 KJV I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
