I was at the zoo with my family one day. There were times we were mere feet away from animals that in their natural habitat are forces to be reckoned with and majestic to say the least. Yet, here they are, tigers, elephants, leopards, eagles, lions, and many others, just laying around waiting for someone to feed them. Totally dependent upon the zookeepers to provide what they need.
It got me thinking, how did these animals wind up here? After a little research I found a few ways animals end up in zoos. 1. They are captured from the wild. From their natural habitat. 2. The animal was injured and never healed correctly. 3. Some are simply born into zoos 4. Some come from other zoos. Often from animals that have been born at these other zoos.
Now I don’t want to ruin zoos for you, but follow me for a moment. These animals are in captivity. Just like these animals, some of us are also in captivity. No we may not be captive by sin, but we are held back by something. Something that has stopped us from operating in the kingdom as we should. We should be forces to be reckoned with, but we are caged. We should be operating in the kingdom of God, which is our natural habitat once we’ve been born again. Yet we sit quietly, and wait to be fed. Yes, we may raise a ruckus every now and again, but we never break free. Some of us were captured by something that stole away our fire. Some of us were injured and never healed correctly. Some of us are born into captivity because our parents never broke free. Then some are captive and move from church to church staying in captivity and never breaking free.
No matter what the reason we don’t have to stay in captivity. We can break free and stay free. Jesus paid the price for us to live free. Break free from what holds you back and live for God fervently
2 Timothy 2:26 KJV And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
