My little Mama (Gladys) always wore a fanny pack with all her money in it. One day she was at our local store which was her common hangout. While there the zipper on her fanny pack had come loose and all her money fell out, unbeknownst to her. Unfortunately she lost all her money because nobody brought it to the front counter and said, “Hey I found a pile of money laying here.” No, they just took it.
You see Mama had something going on that was causing her to lose something valuable. Now she was aware that the zipper was faulty and she should have replaced it, but she chose to keep it and just try to make do with it. This ended up costing her a lot.
On the other side of the coin, she had lost something of value and instead of someone stepping in to help, they decided to profit off of it.
We sometimes walk around carrying things in our lives that put us at risk of losing something. It may not be a financial loss, it could be much worse. It could be relationships, jobs, reputation or something else. It may be that we hold this problem so close that we can’t stand to let go of it. It may be that we just haven’t committed to tackling it head on. Either way if we have something potentially harmful to our lives, we need to address it and fix it.
Now on the flip side, if we come across someone that has such a problem we shouldn’t take the value they’ve lost and try to benefit from it. In other words, if we see someone going through something instead of telling everyone about it, pray for them. If you’re close enough to them, maybe talk to them about it and try to help them. Don’t take their reputation and spend it so that you can get some type of gratification from knowing something that others don’t. Would you want someone sharing your issues?
So if you have an issue, deal with it. If you see someone with an issue, respond with love.
Galatians 6:1-3 WEB 1 Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if a man thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
Matthew 7:12 NET In everything, treat others as you would want them to treat you, for this fulfills the law and the prophets.
