There was a story told about a Pastor that was in the pulpit preaching a sermon. As he was preaching he asked “Who all here wants to go to heaven?” Every hand in the place popped up except for one old man in the back. Noticing this the Pastor circled his sermon back around to the same question, but with a little more fervency this time. Still the old man just sat there. Puzzled and concerned at this point he made his way back to the same question with all the zeal that he could muster up. Still the old man just sat there. The Pastor finished his sermon, then hurriedly made his way to the man. He approached him and began to address the old man. He said, “I noticed that when I asked who all wanted to go to heaven, you didn’t raise your hand.” The old man replied, “No, sir, I’m not interested in that.” The Pastor said, “You mean when you die you don’t want to go to heaven?” The old man says, “That’s a different story. I thought you were gathering a load to go right now.”

While this story may be humorous we can learn something from it. We should not be so attached to this world that we desire this more than heaven.  If the road forks and there is Jesus and the world we should choose Jesus. While we may not all jump on a bus headed to heaven tonight, we should live with an eager expectation to see Him. After all this world is not our home.

Philippians 3:20 (NIV): “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ”.
