I was listening to the radio the other day and the DJ’s were discussing a topic. They had said there were habits that men and women had when it came to bragging about something. Women like to share how much they saved on something. For example, if you compliment their shirt, they will immediately tell you if they got a good deal on it. Men on the other hand like to share the durability or credibility of something. If you compliment their shirt they will tell you how long they’ve had it, if it has been an extended amount of time. Or they will name drop the brand or where they got it.
There are things that we all like to brag about. There is something that transcends both of these spectrums. The Gospel of Jesus Christ. When asked, “How much did this salvation cost you?” We can proudly say, “This, Oh this was free. Jesus paid the price for this.” When asked about its durability we can confidently say, “This will stand the test of time, I have had this for years as a matter of fact it’s around 2000 years old and still saving lives.” Credibility, “Yes it is credible, it is backed by the name above every name Jesus Christ.”
So let’s brag, let’s brag about this great salvation. Let’s brag about Jesus and how He can save anybody from anything at any time. Let’s brag about what He has done for us. Let’s proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted (Isaiah 12:4 NIV). Because this is something worth bragging about.
Romans 1:15-16 NIV
15 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel…
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…
