How many times have you been dragging an extension cord or a water hose and it gets hung up on something. I’ve even made the comment that if I ever jump out of an airplane I don’t need a parachute just give me an extension cord, it’ll hang on something before I hit the ground. You know why, they’re loose, or unstable. If you are dragging a board or straight piece of pipe the likelihood of it getting hung up on something is low.
Have you ever encountered somebody that gets hung up on every little thing? They let so much get them riled up. This is because they are unstable and not totally leaning on God. James talks about those that are double-minded and unstable in all they do (James 1: 6-8). The term “double-minded” in the Greek means “two-souled,” which describes someone whose loyalty is split between God and the world. This inner conflict prevents spiritual growth and creates emotional turbulence.
We must be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love (1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NLT).
We have to trust God, even when we don’t understand our circumstances. So, live for God, not casually or double-minded, because that will get you hung up on things. Be a good soldier.
2 Timothy 2:4 KJV No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
