
I knew someone that was teaching one of his daughters to drive once. They had reached a place that they needed to turn around so she was maneuvering the vehicle to accomplish this. As she was backing up he hollered, “hey, there’s trees back there!” She responded, “I wasn’t looking back there.” She apparently was looking straight ahead while backing up.
In driving it is imperative that we use our mirrors and that we also turn around and look at times. This isn’t advisable in our walk with God. We shouldn’t be looking at our past mistakes when we should be moving forward. The only time we should really look at our past is to thank God for all that He has done in and for us. We should never look back and begin to feel condemned for past things that Jesus has forgiven us of. After all there is.. no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 KJV).
Instead “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Because God is doing a new thing (Isaiah 43:18–19 KJV). Don’t let your past dictate your future, you don’t live there anymore.
