Have you ever thought about the integrity of water? We usually just focus on the fact that we want clean water. We don’t want dirty water coming out of our faucet. This doesn’t happen by accident. The water and water system has to have integrity. The integrity of water refers to its overall health and wholeness, encompassing a wide range of aspects. There is a lot that goes into that clean glass of water that you drink. You know the thing about the water’s integrity is that it can be affected by the slightest corruption. For example you can run clean water into a glass of dirty looking water and after some time it will run clear. On the flip side if you have a clean glass of water and introduce a small amount of dirty water it becomes visible immediately.
We also must have integrity. If we do not have integrity in our lives how can we effectively share the Gospel? If we are dishonest, uncaring, rude, etc then it will taint how the Gospel is received from us. If you know someone that is dishonest in business, then you don’t do business with them. If you visit a business and they are rude then you bring your business elsewhere. The list could go on of things that could affect our integrity. The fact remains that we have entrusted with the gospel (1 Thessalonians 2:4 NET) so we should handle it with care.
Integrity is not only important to those around us, but to God also. We see this in Job 2:3 (KJV) And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. Did you notice that God brought up Job’s integrity?
If you look throughout the Word you will see that integrity is very important. We must remember that we are ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20 KJV). We represent the kingdom and must do it with integrity.
Psalm 25:21 KJV Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
Proverbs 20:7 KJV The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
Psalm 26:11 KJV But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
