We are results oriented. We always want to see the desired outcome, the success in something. While there is nothing wrong with this I think we also apply this to the kingdom of God. I know we want to see good results in ourselves and this is commendable. We want to see as many souls as we can be saved and there isn’t a thing wrong with that. What I want you to understand is just because you don’t see the results that you’d like to see doesn’t mean that you have failed.
Let me explain with Noah. Noah preached for 120 years. When he goes onto the ark he has a congregation of 8 people counting himself. Estimates of Earth’s population at the time of the flood range from several million to over 20 billion people. Those are not promising results according to our calculations. But did Noah obey God? Yes. So Noah was right smack in the middle of the will of God and had very small results. While I am sure Noah was disheartened that he didn’t have better results, he had something else that God was looking at. He had obedience.
A results oriented person may get discouraged when they don’t see the results that they think that they should have. Paul said one waters and one plants, but God gives the increase. Paul was focused on obedience, he left the results up to God. So take heart if you haven’t seen the results you’d like to see. Obey God and find your satisfaction in this and you won’t be disappointed.
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
